About this event

All women in our community 18 and older are invited to attend at the Stake Center in Joliet. Please bring a potluck dish to share (and serving utensil). Plan to take your labeled items home to clean. PLEASE BRING a pair of fabric scissors with your name marked on them to help with three JUST SERVE service projects:

1. "Bonding Hearts" for babies in the NICU. We will make two fabric hearts, which can be swapped from parent to baby during each visit. One is placed with the baby, and the other is given to the parent to keep against their skin throughout the day to absorb the parent's scent to facilitate parent-baby bonding. The extra heart is taken home, washed, worn again, and returned to the baby. We will trace patterns, cut fabric, and sew hearts together. These will be washed in Dreft, placed in ziploc bags, and given to parents who have a baby in the NICU.

2. Fleece Blankets for St. Joseph Hospital, our literal neighbors near the Stake Center. These will be given to children in the Pediatric Unit or Emergency Room, or to adults who have a need for a lap quilt. We will cut strips on the sides of pieces of fleece and tie the strips together.

3. Meals on Wheels Small gift to be delivered with meals to brighten the recipients' day. It will probably be a paper craft rather than fabric.

We look forward to visiting with and becoming acquainted with one another as we serve together!

Please invite your friends and neighbors to come with you!
